3- Purina Dog Chow
The name Purina is the property of Nestlé Purina PetCare company, which use it to manufacture several dog food brands.
This company was founded in 1893 as Ralston Purina Company. Now, it owns more than half a dozen different product lines. Purina Dog Chow is one of Purina’s oldest products and, sadly, one of the worst dog foods you can feed your dog.
While, Purina Dog Chow try to please every one of our dogs providing recipes for puppies, adult dogs, small dogs, big dogs and tough eaters (even weight management recipes), unfortunately, the classic Dog Chow recipe is primarily made from whole grain corn, meat and bone meal, corn gluten meal, soy flour and chicken by-product meal among the top six ingredients. Not good for your puppy!
Overall, Purina Dog Chow products are loaded with corn, wheat, and soy products, as well as artificial colors, and flavors. Those low-quality non-nutritious fillers do no good for your pet.
Unfortunately, these products are still very popular among many dog owners, because they are cheap and because they appear like good products based on the sophisticated packaging.
Recall Info: The Purina brand as a whole has been affected by many recalls over the years. Surprisingly, however, no recall was recorded for the Dog Chow product line in particular.
Problem Ingredients: whole grain corn, soybean meal, corn gluten meal, chicken by-product meal, whole grain wheat, meat and bone meal, animal digest, artificial flavors, artificial preservatives, artificial colors.
